You are a CrossFitter

2013 is coming to an end. This is the time of year we all reflect on the past and decide who we want to be in the future. Those New Year resolutions bring inspiration, motivation, and hope for a better tomorrow. We all know what happens, you start off bright eyed and bushy tailed and then one bump in the road and its over. That’s it, the resolution is forgotten and it’s back to square one the next New Years Eve. Luckily you are a CrossFitter, and you don’t have time for that kind of disappointment.

Think back on your CrossFit year of 2013. What were your goals this year? What couldn’t you do in January that you are a pro at now? How much time did you shave off your leader board WODS or weight did you add to your lift PR’s? Maybe 2013 was the year you found CrossFit and in January you were just wandering aimlessly through the gym picking up a dumbbell here or there, hopping on an elliptical for the thousandth and one time, or just heading straight for the tanning beds… if you only knew. Well now you do, and I bet you have tremendously improved your strength, endurance, coordination, and outlook on life since the start of your CrossFit journey. It doesn’t matter where you see yourself at the end of the year. Despite whether or not you accomplished last years resolutions, have made big improvements, or digressed due to injury or lack of time in the gym, you are still a CrossFitter and a CrossFitter is so much more than their times or PR’s.

A CrossFitter is not defined by what they can do right now; they are on a journey of their own that will progress over a lifetime. A CrossFitter is loyal and has passion for their health, family, and CrossFit community. A CrossFitter will always honor their role as teammate, encouraging others as well as accepting others support in return. A CrossFitter is humble. They are proud of their own gains, but even prouder of others. A CrossFitter will always give their best no matter what, NO MATTER WHAT. A CrossFitter does not dwell on the past or mope in their “not so great day.” No, A CrossFitter does not have time for that. They are too busy looking forward to tomorrow and “turning their frown upside down.”

A CrossFit journey is never over. A CrossFitter longs for more, for better, and will never be satisfied. So although it is the time of year for resolutions and lifestyle changes, a CrossFitter makes resolutions for change each and everyday. You are a CrossFitter, so be a CrossFitter. Make your resolution to make each day better than the day before. Reflect on your 2013 victories, give yourself a shout out, and move on with a desire for more.

So raise your protein shakes and toast to a great year and an even better year to come. Tomorrow, raise them again; to a great WOD and an even better one to come! Happy New Year CFM! Be sure to share your best from 2013 in the comments below. What can we celebrate with you this year?
