2013 CrossFit Games Open WODsIt's also the time of year for the Open WODs of the CrossFit Games. Over the next 5 weeks, we, along with every other CrossFitter around the world, will be performing these WODs. I love this time of year. This sense of worldwide competition only pales in comparison to events like the Olympics. So what drives us to compete? What inherent desire is there to find out where you stand against other people like you? For everyone, the answer to these questions is different. Yet we all find the commonality in wanting to compete, wanting to prove something, wanting to be something. There is nothing wrong with this, in fact it is healthy. It provides a sense of worth and accomplishment. And this is why we like to participate in it and why we like to watch it happen. So, over the next couple weeks, through Regionals, and leading up to the games, we will be able to be apart of this story of competition. Through this you will have the opportunity to witness some truly exciting events.
We will be performing the Open WODs on Thursdays during all of the classes. There will be two chances to make these up or do them again. Friday morning at 6:00 am and Saturday morning at 11:00 am.
Supplies for Soldiers
One of the kids of our members had a great idea and it is something that we want to do to help her make that a reality. We are going to be setting up a box labeled "Supplies for Soldiers". What we are asking is that you bring in and donate various supplies. Sometimes it can be the simplest things that we can take for granted. Deodorant, toothpaste, snacks, crosswords, socks, air fresheners, new DVDs, iTunes gift cards. Things that cannot be sent are stuff that melts or spoils in heat, or hotel samples. We are going to continue this all year and when the box fills up we will send it out. Not only is it not good to take these things for granted, it is also not good to take for granted our freedom and the heroes that fight for this, home and abroad.

March Macombie
This month, the Macombie Award for "Student Athlete" goes to Kishon. Kishon came to CrossFit Macomb his junior year looking for an edge in football. In combination with his training at school, Kishon has seen some incredible gains over the past year. He is now preparing for college where he was given a scholarship to go to Defiance College to play Div III NCAA football. Of all the quotes I have this is one of my favorites from Kishon. Me: "Kishon, what size T-shirt do you want?" Kishon: "I'll take a medium... for the ladies." Great job Kishon. Continue to work hard and great things will happen for you. But remember to keep your studies ahead of the ladies.

Box to Box ThrowdownsThanks to everyone that participated in the Box to Box Throwdown with 586 CrossFit Asylum. It was a blast! I'm already setting up the next one for April. Keep the 13th clear everyone.
