Simply Amazing by Kevin C

I’m not a crier. Never have been, never will be. I can’t tell you the last time that I legitimately shed an actual tear over anything.

That being said, there have been a few times that I’ve come close at the box. A younger me would just excuse it as lack of oxygen to the brain after a ridiculous WOD, but I know better now. Witnessing some of you do movements that just the thought of performing pre-CrossFit would have resulted in an elevated heart rate, hysterical laughing and/or at least moderate anxiety is kind of a big deal to me.

The other day I saw pure exhilaration on one of the ladies of CFM as she showed a small group of us at the 7:30 class a perfect “guys” push-up. We gathered around as she set up, took a deep breath, scrunched her face and pushed…and pushed…until she had her arms locked out. Game over, right? Nope. She repped out a few more for good measure. Lots of hand slapping and fist bumps from everyone. I was beyond proud of how hard she had worked to get to that point. Was it always pretty? Of course not. It’s not going to be. But she kept showing up and pushing a little more when she was able to. This is what Crossfit Macomb is all about.

Opposite end of the spectrum. Does anyone remember watching one of our trainers struggle through wall balls in the 10 Skills Competition? How many failed attempts? How much energy did she exert getting no repped? She could have easily quit after the 5th no rep…after the 15th…but she didn’t. She had her team supporting her. Her entire box was yelling, each one trying to somehow will the ball above the 10’ mark. By the end of that movement, people from the other boxes were doing the same. I had to gulp the emotions down once that final wallball rep hit the floor as she immediately moved to the next movement. Where else would something like this happen?

The CrossFit community is a thing of beauty. Sometimes allow yourself to step out of the moment and take it in. You are all amazing just to keep showing up. Push your limits. Enjoy the pain. Allow yourself to be moved by this CrossFit thing that we all love.
