It is officially summer at CrossFit Macomb.
Stay Hydrated
The air conditioning is broken at CrossFit Macomb...permanently. It has been very hot at the gym. It is important to stay hydrated when it is so hot! Your muscles need water to work. When you exercise you can lose up to 2 liters (1/2 gallon)! Some signs of dehydration are lack of sweating, muscle cramps, and chills. If this happens, it is important to sip water, don't guzzle it. You need to rehydrate slowly. So on these hot days make sure you are hydrated.
July Macombie
This month's Macombie goes to Jake aka "Captain Obvious". Jake has been a lot of fun to have at CFM. It is definitely quieter when he is not around. Jake gets the "Obvious" Macombie because he is often asking questions about the WOD right after the WOD is explained to the group, which usually start with "OK let me get this straight..." Jake has seen some dramatic improvements over the past couple of months due to working hard at the WODs. He is often seen staying late and working on specific weaknesses. He completed 17 rounds on Continuous Pull-ups, dropped minute off of his 1200m run, and is currently working on his Overhead Squat which started at 45 lbs and is now repping 95 lbs. Keep up the great work Jake...and keep asking the questions that everyone is afraid to ask!
Classes & Schedule
I have been scratching my head over what to do with the class schedules. It seems we get a lot of people in a couple of classes. I want to spread this out and I think adding some classes will help do this. I didn't want to make this decision alone, we are a COMMUNITY and we make decisions that way. So do me a favor and click on this survey about CFM's classes and schedule.
If we do change things I would like to be ready for August. So please fill this out in the next two weeks. On July 29th we will draw a random survey and give that person a CFM t-shirt. If you want to be entered into the draw put your name in the comments at the end. If not, leave it blank and it will be anonymous.
Running Clinic
We are also planning a Running Clinic with Dr. Kehres. The clinic will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 4th. If you didn't make it to the clinic last time you missed a great time to work on running form. Even if you did, it doesn't hurt to refresh your stride. The cost of the clinic is $10.
