How are your goals coming?





2012 Goals

Do you remember even making them at the start of the year? Many of us made goals at the beginning of this year. We are going into the second part of this year. So now is a good time to reaccess those goals. Remember, goals should be SMART. S-specific, M-measurable, A-attainable, R-reasonable, and T-time sensitive. So were those goals we made at the beginning of the year SMART? If the answer to that question is no then redo those goals. If the answer was yes then the next question is what are you doing to attain them? Continuing to go to CrossFit Macomb is only a small part of attaining your goals. CrossFit Macomb is more than just "the gym". Our goal is to help you lead a healthier and happier life. The fitness part is the fun part. But that is only 1 hour of your 24 hour day. In order to help yourself attain those goals you have to focus on the other 23 hours in your day. We at CFM are here to help you succeed during the hour that you are with us, but we also want to help you with other 23! No I am not going to move in with you or follow you home (that would be creepy). But, ask us questions, have us review your food journal, get more sleep, and find healthy ways of reducing stress. We can help you meet your goals and set small steps to reach them.


August Macombie

This month the Macombie goes to James C for the Best Attendance for the first half of the year. Since the first of this year James has been to 141 classes! Obviously James is a common face for everyone since he has the best attendance. It seems that when the doors are open James is there. He has also been to all of our events. The CFM 10 Skills Challenge, BBQ Night, Running Clinic, Paleo Challenge, and the list goes on. This is not the only record James has as during his time at CFM at he has see many Personal Records (PRs) in the Leaderboard WODs. His favorite Leaderboard... CrossFit Total! Last time he saw significant strength gains. We will see how much he as grown when we do the CrossFit Total again this month! Keep up the good work James and continue your attendance record.





Classes & Schedule

Last month we asked you for you input on changing the class schedule. This is what you've come up with.

We will be adding a 4:00pm and a 5:30pm class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, we will be eliminating the 7:30pm class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The classes on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday will remain unchanged. So our new schedule will look like this:


Monday: 6:00am...5:30pm, 6:30pm, and 7:30pm
Tuesday: 4:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:30pm
Wednesday: 6:00am...5:30pm, 6:30pm, and 7:30pm
Thursday: 4:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:30pm
Friday: 6:00am...5:30pm, 6:30pm
Saturday: 10:00am

These changes will take effect Tuesday, August 7th.

You will also notice that we cancelled the Olympic Lifting class. The 7:30 class on Wednesday will now be a regular WOD class.

Thank you for all the comments and suggestions and will try to accomodate more class options as we get more interest in more morning classes, and later night classes.


CFM Referral Program

We are also adding a referral program. If you refer someone to CFM and they sign up for a monthly membership, you get your next month for FREE! We want to make it worth while for you to talk with you friends and co-workers about changing their lifestyle and make positive steps toward their health.



CFM Hoodie

Fall is coming and several people have asked about a CFM Hoodie. We are going to put out a pre-order sheet next week for a CFM Hoodie. If you pre-order the Hoodie you will get a free CFM T-shirt! So get your name on the pre-order sheet to stock up on CFM apparel.


Swamp Foot 4 Mile

The Swamp Foot 4 Mile race is filling up fast. There are a few spots left in the later heats. Sign up if you want to do this with us. Also make sure you where your CFM apparel to represent during the race!


Vote 4 the Best

All this month and through Labor Day, Local Channel 4, Vote 4 the Best, contest is going on. Last year, we came in 4th place as the best gym in Detroit. I truly believe we have the best gym in Detroit, but I am biased. It is your votes that will help spur us to #1 this time. You can vote once every week from now until Labor Day. Vote as many times and with as many accounts as you like.

CFM Giveaway 3-Day Challenge

August 17th, 18th, and 20th we will be doing a 3-Day Challenge. Over those three days you will have the oppurtunity to compete in the Challenge on each day. There will be three brackets for this challenge: Mens, Womens, and Over 40. The cost of the challenge will be $5 per daily attempt. The actual challenge will be announced that day and will be part of the Buy-in for those classes.

The prizes for the giveaway are as follows:

1st place - One Free Month Membership
2nd place - $50 Gift Card to Reebok
3rd place - One Free T-shirt

The challenges will be based on overall skill but will take into account current skill level. Again you can compete each day to try to get a better score on the different daily challenges to improve your odds of winning the challenge. Good luck!
