Have you mastered all 10 Physical Skills?
Huh!? This month we are testing your ability to perform the 10 Physical Skills. If you remember from the On Ramp one of the definitions of fitness is the 10 Physical Skills. They are endurance, strength, coordination, flexibility, power, speed, balance, coordination, accuracy, and agility. Mastering these skills is hard work and takes a combination of training and practice.
First Annual CFM 10 Skills Challenge
So here are the details. CrossFit Macomb is holding its first annual CrossFit Macomb 10 Skills Challenge on Saturday, May 19th. This competition will bring the local CrossFit community together for a day long competition that will test each individual on their competency in the 10 physicals skills.
This is a team challenge. The teams will consist of 4 athletes. Teams can include athletes from different CF boxes. This event is geared toward expanding everyone's ability in performing the 10 physical skills. So all skill levels are welcomed and scaling will be available. We have change the rules so that any combination of guys and girls can make up a team.
You can get involved in two ways. (1) Get a team together and test your skills. (2) We are going to need quite a few judges and other volunteers to help make this competition happen. If you are interested in volunteering, we will have a sign up sheet in the office.
There will be 4 WOD's for every team with a 5th winner's circle WOD to determine the team that has mastered all 10 Skills. The first three WODs will be announced two weeks before the Challenge. We will post video demonstration of the standards for movements and expectations of the WODs. We will be offereing individual prizes to the top three teams. Only Rx'd teams are eligible for the prizes. Register by May 9th.

(Only the team captains need to register)
A Great Big Thank You!
I'd like to send out a great big Thank You! to Shannon, Deb and the spotters for covering for Lisa and I while we were on vacation. We had a great time on vacation and by the sounds of it we weren't even missed. Just kidding. Thank you guys so much for volunteering your time and being apart of CrossFit Macomb.
The May Macombies
This month we are honoring a great success story and someone that I am truly proud of. Stephanie (Sammy) M started in July of 2011. She has made a dramatic noticeable change in her life. She has lost 35 lbs and 6 inches around her waist. I joked with Sammy that I notice these changes once her pink shorts weren't so tight anymore. Sammy threw herself into CrossFit. She did her first competition with a make shift team during the Battle of the Boxes in November. Her favorite WOD is Jack and can now complete 7 rounds + 4 reps. Sammy was also one of the winners of the Paleo Challenge we had during the first of the year.
 May Macombie
Sammy had this to say about her Macombie,
"I have to say that I absolutely love my CFM family! I would not be where I am today without every one of you. The constant pushing, encouragement and motivation has helped me every step of the way. I love it, live it and am addicted! One of the most touching things I've heard lately is how I inspired someone. I never thought of myself that way and it truely touched me when they told me. It makes all the hard work worth even more."
Keep up the great work Sammy!
CFM BBQ Night
This month we are doing the CFM BBQ Night in the afternoon. This Saturday, May 12th we are going to cook out and stream the CrossFit Regional action. Bring some meat for yourself and a dish to pass. We had a great time last month and hope to make it better by watching some of the area's elite (Froning Jr, Holmberg, Bailey) compete this weekend. We are the only region that gets to stream the coverage! http://games.crossfit.com/article/live-coverage-central-east-espn
